A Lufthansa flight from San Francisco to Munich was diverted to Boston Thursday due to an “unruly passenger,” An women allegedly attacked another passenger aboard.
Lufthansa Flight 459 diverted to Boston Logan International Airport after a passenger allegedly attacked another passenger and had to be handcuffed to their seat, NBC Boston reported, citing Massachusetts State Police.
Lufthansa said the flight was forced to make an unscheduled stop due to “an unruly passenger who posed a threat to the safe continuation of the flight.”
After the flight landed in Boston, the passenger was taken into custody by authorities and his luggage was removed from the aircraft.
“The safety of all passengers and crew on board is always Lufthansa’s top priority,” the airline said in a statement. “Please understand that we are unable to provide any further information regarding the incident.”
The plane, an Airbus A380 carrying 508 passengers, refueled and continued on its journey to Munich, the airline said.
