United Airlines has launched a new online tool that allows passengers to check whether their upcoming flight will feature Starlink’s high-speed, free in-flight internet.
The new Starlink Wi-Fi Tracker lets travelers enter their flight number up to three days before departure to see if their aircraft is equipped with the satellite-based internet service. The tool also reflects real-time updates when aircraft assignments change, although last-minute swaps can still affect availability.
As of October 2026, United has equipped 639 aircraft, representing approximately 43% of its fleet, with Starlink. All United Express regional aircraft are included, along with a growing number of Boeing 737s and Airbus A321s. However, only six of its 248 wide-body aircraft currently have the service.
United is installing Starlink on approximately 20 aircraft per week and aims to complete fleet-wide installations by the end of 2027.
Among its seven major hubs, Chicago O’Hare leads with 54% of daily departures equipped with Starlink, while San Francisco records the lowest share at 36%.
The move gives United a competitive advantage as American Airlines plans to introduce Starlink next year, while Delta Air Lines has selected Amazon Leo for its satellite Wi-Fi strategy.
United is also attracting rival airline customers through a loyalty-status matching campaign, which the airline says has driven a 275% increase in applications compared with the period before the campaign.
