An American Airlines flight from Baltimore to Miami was met by law enforcement after a female passenger allegedly undressed completely and behaved indecently in view of other passengers.

The incident unfolded Friday, September 11, aboard flight AA1779, operated by an Airbus A319. According to an ACARS message sent by the crew, the passenger was in the ninth row when flight attendants reported the unusual behavior to the cockpit.

The crew immediately alerted American Airlines’ Integrated Operations Center, which requested law enforcement to meet the aircraft when it arrived in Miami.

The flight continued to Miami without being diverted. After landing at Miami International Airport, officers met the aircraft at Gate D2 and took the passenger into custody.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. It remains unclear what happened inside the cabin immediately before the passenger was detained or whether any further action was taken against her.

The bizarre incident highlights the challenging situations airline crews can face when dealing with disruptive passenger behavior.
