Alaska Airlines, in partnership with Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), has unveiled a custom-designed Fallen Soldier Cart dedicated to honoring the nation’s military heroes on their final journey.

The newly introduced cart is the 19th created by Alaska Airlines’ Maintenance & Engineering employees as part of the airline’s Fallen Soldier Program, which was launched in 2011 to ensure deceased active-duty service members, veterans, and retired military personnel are transported with the highest level of dignity and respect. Available for use by all airlines operating at SLC, the cart serves as a lasting symbol of gratitude for the sacrifices made by members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.

During the unveiling ceremony, Alaska Airlines also brought its special military-themed aircraft, “Honoring Those Who Serve,” to Salt Lake City. The aircraft serves as a flying tribute to the courage, dedication, and service of military personnel.

Brian Bowden, founder and organizer of the Alaska Airlines Fallen Soldier Program, said the airline’s mission is to ensure every military member and their family receives the utmost care and respect in recognition of their service and sacrifice. He added that Alaska Airlines hopes to place a Fallen Soldier Cart at every airport it serves.

Salt Lake City International Airport Executive Director Bill Wyatt said the airport is honored to help remember these brave men and women as they make their final journey, expressing hope that the dignified transfer provides comfort and peace to grieving families.

The Fallen Soldier Program has become one of Alaska Airlines’ most meaningful initiatives, reflecting the airline’s enduring commitment to honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
