WestJet Flight WS1571 was forced to abort takeoff at Denver International Airport after two landing gear tires reportedly blew out, leaving them shredded on the runway.
The Boeing 737 was preparing to depart for Calgary when the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Emergency procedures were immediately initiated, and the crew safely stopped the aircraft before takeoff. Airport emergency teams responded quickly as smoke was reportedly seen coming from beneath the aircraft.
Passengers were evacuated using mobile stairs and transported back to the terminal by bus. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
WestJet said it is actively assisting affected passengers and working to rebook them as quickly as possible while the aircraft undergoes inspection.
