United Airlines has reached a major milestone in its inflight connectivity upgrade program, operating its first Starlink-equipped widebody transatlantic passenger flight.

United Flight 14 departed Newark, New York, for London aboard a Boeing 777-200, becoming the airline’s first widebody international service to offer Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet. The flight marks the beginning of a broader rollout, with nearly 60 United widebody aircraft expected to be equipped with Starlink by the end of the year.

Powered by Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite network, the service provides fast and reliable internet access even over oceans, polar regions, and other remote areas where traditional connectivity has been limited.

United says more than 400 aircraft are already equipped with Starlink, with plans to install the system on nearly 1,000 aircraft fleetwide. Since launching the service last year, over 18.6 million passengers have used Starlink connectivity across more than 311,000 flights.

The free service for MileagePlus members allows passengers to stream content, play online games, browse the web, work in real time, and connect multiple devices while flying at 35,000 feet.

The airline plans to expand Starlink-equipped Boeing 777-200 operations on routes connecting Newark, Washington D.C., Houston, and San Francisco with destinations including London, Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo.
