“Terrifying” Emergency Landing After Engine Problem at 31,000 Feet
A United Airlines flight bound for Newark was forced to make an emergency landing in Las Vegas Thursday after experiencing an engine problem at altitude.
United Flight 1403, operating from Los Angeles (LAX) to Newark (EWR), landed safely at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas around 7 a.m.
According to the FAA and United Airlines, the aircraft encountered a problem with one of its engines during the flight. One passenger claimed on X that the aircraft suffered an engine failure at 31,000 feet, describing the experience as “terrifying.” However, authorities have not confirmed the exact nature of the engine issue.
The Boeing 757 was carrying 176 passengers and 7 crew members. Everyone safely deplaned in Las Vegas and was awaiting another flight to Newark.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
