A Qatar Airways-operated flight from Melbourne to Doha reportedly turned into a frightening scene when two male passengers allegedly became violent and assaulted crew members.

Witnesses claimed the men spat at and headbutted flight attendants and even made threats about having a gun.

The situation reportedly became so serious that multiple passengers and crew members were needed to restrain each man using zip ties.

After the flight landed in Doha, local authorities boarded the aircraft and took both men into custody, reportedly receiving applause from relieved passengers.

One witness praised the cabin crew, saying they had been dealing with the situation for hours and “couldn’t do too much more.”

Qatar Airways confirmed that two passengers were involved in a physical altercation and were handed over to authorities after landing.

The incident occurred on September 11, adding another layer of concern for passengers and crew aboard the flight.
