Seven flight attendants fell ill after an unknown odor was reported aboard an Alaska Airlines flight operated by Hawaiian Airlines from Los Angeles to Honolulu on Thursday.
The Airbus A330 arrived safely at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport around 12:30 p.m., where emergency crews were waiting. Paramedics evaluated the seven flight attendants after they reported symptoms including nausea and headaches.
All seven were evaluated and released without being transported to hospital. None of the 252 passengers required medical attention, and the aircraft landed without incident.
The airline has not yet identified the source of the odor. The aircraft was scheduled for inspection before returning to service.
The incident involved an Alaska Airlines flight operated by Hawaiian Airlines. Both carriers are part of Alaska Air Group.
The mystery odor comes less than a week after a separate Delta flight from Maui to Seattle diverted to Honolulu following reports of fumes, with several people reporting headaches and nausea.
For now, investigators and maintenance teams are left with one key question: What caused the odor that made seven flight attendants sick
