Man accused of robbing NASCAR legend Greg Biffle’s home after learning he and his family died in plane crash

A Georgia man has been charged with a dozen felonies after investigators say he burglarized the North Carolina home of NASCAR legend Greg Biffle weeks after Biffle, his wife and their two children were killed in a plane crash.

Terrell Williams, 44, of Stone Mountain, was arrested in Georgia on July 29 in connection with a separate burglary. Investigators then discovered property allegedly stolen from Biffle’s home among items recovered in that case, breaking open an eight-month investigation.

Biffle, 55, his wife Cristina, 35, and their children Emma, 14, and Ryder, 5, were among seven people killed when their private plane crashed near Statesville Regional Airport, North Carolina, on December 18.

On January 8, Biffle’s home was reportedly burglarized. Police say approximately $30,000 in cash, two Glock handguns, NASCAR memorabilia, and gold and silver coins were stolen.

Investigators allege Williams used news reports and social media posts to identify when homeowners were away. He is also accused of using a radio-frequency detector to move through Biffle’s home during the burglary.

Authorities say Williams operated under multiple aliases and allegedly used one to purchase a vehicle with cash close to the amount stolen from Biffle’s home.

Much of the stolen property has since been recovered. Williams faces charges in North Carolina including burglary, safecracking, money laundering, larceny of firearms and possession of burglary tools.

Authorities say there was no known connection between Williams and Biffle or his family.

Biffle, known as “The Biff,” was a 19-time NASCAR Cup Series winner, two-time national series champion and one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers.

The investigation into the fatal plane crash remains ongoing, while authorities say the burglary investigation is “far from over.”
