On Thursday (7-May-2026) an EMB-720C (PT-RDF) suffered an engine failure shortly after taking off from Jordão Airport (SJOD), in Acre, and tried to return, but the pilot opted to make an emergency landing on the Tarauacá River.
The seven occupants suffered minor injuries and the aircraft sustained considerable damage. The crash caused apprehension among locals who witnessed the events immediately after the accident.
Rescue teams were called to attend to the incident, while the occupants themselves attempted to exit the aircraft.
The pilot and six passengers were taken to the city of Jordão to receive medical attention at a health unit in the city’s urban area.
The aircraft was heading towards Tarauacá, 189 km from the isolated city, when it lost lift during the journey and attempted to return, but without enough time for a safe landing.
