Authorities have released updated details following the tragic aircraft crash into Beijing’s tallest skyscraper, the 109-story CITIC Tower (China Zun), on June 26.

Officials confirmed that the single-engine, two-seat light aircraft was carrying only the pilot, who was killed in the crash. Thirteen people on the ground were injured after debris and shattered glass fell from the building following the impact.

The aircraft struck the tower at approximately 5:55 p.m. local time, damaging multiple glass panels. Emergency services quickly responded and secured the area as dramatic videos of the aftermath spread across social media.
