A deadly missile strike hit a passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, killing 12 people and injuring more than 300, according to Saudi officials.
The victims reportedly included four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshi nationals and individuals from Palestine, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Sudan. An American citizen was among those killed, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed.
Rubio condemned the attack, calling it “reprehensible” and accusing those responsible of showing blatant disregard for innocent civilian lives. He demanded that the attacks stop immediately.
The Saudi-led coalition blamed Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen for the strike. Reports indicated that Terminal 3 was hit, triggering evacuations as injured passengers and airport visitors fled the affected area.
Witnesses described scenes of panic, with people running for safety as the explosion struck near the departure gates. Some injured victims were reportedly in critical condition.
US President Donald Trump was asked about potential American action following the deadly attack and responded, “We’ll find out,” leaving uncertainty over Washington’s next steps.
The incident marks a major escalation in the widening regional conflict, raising fresh concerns about the safety of civilian aviation infrastructure and passengers across the Middle East.
The reported casualty figures and responsibility for the attack are based on the accounts provided and may be subject to further confirmation.
