Tragedy in the skies over Missouri: All 12 people aboard a skydiving aircraft have lost their lives after a devastating crash near Butler Memorial Airport.

The Pacific Aerospace P-750XL aircraft, operated by Skydive Kansas City, took off from Butler Memorial Airport in Butler, Missouri, on the morning of June 14. Moments after departure, the aircraft failed to gain enough altitude, turned back toward the airport, and crashed approximately 300 yards from the runway, bursting into flames. There were no survivors.

Authorities confirmed that the victims included 11 skydivers and the pilot. Family members and loved ones of some passengers were reportedly at the airport and witnessed the heartbreaking accident unfold.

Initial reports suggest the aircraft may have experienced a loss of power and stalled while attempting to return or make an emergency landing, though the exact cause remains unknown. Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched a full investigation to determine what led to the crash.

Skydive Kansas City described the accident as a “devastating loss” for its team and the close-knit skydiving community, offering condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives.

This marks one of the deadliest skydiving aircraft accidents in the United States in recent years and has left the aviation community mourning another tragic loss.
