MISSED FLIGHT, FAKE B**B THREAT — NOW 3 YEARS ON PROBATION

A 23-year-old Michigan man who reported a fake b**b threat against a Spirit Airlines flight at Detroit Metro Airport has been sentenced to three years of probation.

John Charles Robinson of Monroe called Spirit Airlines at 6:25 a.m. on June 5, 2025, claiming that someone was going to try to blow up the airport and Flight 2145, which was scheduled to fly from Detroit to Los Angeles.

Robinson reportedly warned that a b**b would be carried through TSA and urged the airline not to let the flight board.

The threat triggered an immediate response. Flight 2145 was canceled, and passengers and crew were removed from the aircraft. Authorities searched the plane, but no b**b or explosives were found.

Investigators later discovered a startling detail: Robinson himself had been booked on Flight 2145 — but he had missed it.

He had reportedly been told at the gate that he needed to rebook. After making the b**b threat, Robinson allegedly attempted to board another Los Angeles-bound flight from Detroit Metro Airport, where police and the U.S. Federal Air Marshal Service arrested him.

On March 31, 2026, Robinson pleaded guilty to federal charges involving false b**b-threat information and an attempt to damage or destroy an aircraft using an explosive.

On August 18, 2026, he was sentenced to three years of probation, according to court records.

What began as a missed flight ended with a canceled aircraft, disrupted passengers, a major security response and a federal criminal case.
