A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Los Angeles was forced to divert on Monday after the flight crew received an engine warning indication while en route from San Francisco.

Delta Flight 2725, operated by a Boeing 737-800, departed San Francisco International Airport (SFO) for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) when pilots reported an indicator warning related to one of the aircraft’s engines. As a precaution, the crew diverted the flight to Fresno Yosemite International Airport.

The aircraft landed safely at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). After touchdown, the Boeing 737-800 taxied to the gate without incident, where it underwent further inspection.

Delta confirmed that the flight was carrying 157 passengers and six crew members. The airline emphasized that the diversion was made out of an abundance of caution.

“The flight landed uneventfully and we are assessing the aircraft while we work to reaccommodate our customers. We apologize to them for the delay and inconvenience to their travel,” Delta said in a statement.

No injuries were reported, and passengers were safely deplaned in Fresno while Delta arranged alternative transportation to their final destination.

The FAA has announced that it will investigate the incident to determine what triggered the engine warning.
