JetBlue Airways has officially launched three daily nonstop flights between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), marking a significant expansion of its presence in the Mid-Atlantic region and giving travelers more choices for flights to South Florida.
The new service represents JetBlue’s strategic return to BWI with a high-frequency schedule, offering convenient morning, afternoon, and evening departures. The increased frequency is aimed at serving both leisure travelers heading to Florida’s beaches and cruise ports, as well as business passengers looking for greater scheduling flexibility.
Passengers flying the new route can enjoy JetBlue’s signature onboard experience, including:
Free unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi
Complimentary seatback entertainment
Free snacks and beverages
Comfortable seating with modern cabin amenities
The Baltimore–Fort Lauderdale route is one of the busiest leisure corridors on the U.S. East Coast, and JetBlue’s entry is expected to increase competition, potentially leading to lower fares and improved service options for travelers. The airline will also leverage its Fort Lauderdale hub to provide convenient connections to destinations across the Caribbean and Latin America.
This is only the beginning of JetBlue’s expansion at BWI. The airline has already announced that it will launch nonstop flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) starting November 2, 2026, further strengthening its network from Maryland.
BWI Marshall Airport officials welcomed the new service, highlighting its role in boosting regional connectivity and supporting Maryland’s economy. The airport currently offers around 300 daily nonstop departures to nearly 90 destinations worldwide, supports approximately 107,000 jobs, and generates more than $11.3 billion in annual economic activity.
Industry analysts believe JetBlue’s expansion is a direct challenge to Southwest Airlines’ long-standing dominance at BWI. By offering three daily departures instead of a single daily flight, JetBlue aims to attract both business and leisure travelers while strengthening Fort Lauderdale as an alternative gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean.
For travelers, the increased competition means more flight choices, better schedules, and potentially more affordable fares—especially during the busy winter travel season.
