Football fever apparently reached 35,000 feet after England’s dramatic 2–1 victory over Norway in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final on 12-Jul-2026.

This picture circulating on social media appears to show a cheeky ACARS free-text message displayed on a Boeing 777 flight deck, allegedly sent by BA Operations Control:

“ATTENTION ALL AIRCRAFT

ENGLAND HAVE WON 2-1

ITS COMING HOME”

From the football pitch to the flight deck, there was seemingly no escaping the result. Imagine cruising thousands of feet above the ground and suddenly receiving the most British operational update of the day.

England’s victory booked their place in the World Cup semi-finals, and the celebrations clearly weren’t limited to those watching from the ground.
