More than 900 flights delayed across Dallas airports after another round of thunderstorms

Severe thunderstorms once again disrupted air travel across North Texas on Thursday, causing widespread delays at both Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued temporary ground stops at both airports during the afternoon, marking the second consecutive day that thunderstorms forced simultaneous ground stops at the two major airports. It is also the third weather-related disruption to impact air travel across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in recent days.

The ground stop at DFW was lifted around 4:20 p.m., while operations at Dallas Love Field resumed shortly before 5:00 p.m. However, delays continued to ripple through the system.

As of 5:00 p.m., more than 900 flights had been delayed, including 712 at DFW and 195 at Dallas Love Field. Average departure delays at both airports were approximately 90 minutes.

Passengers traveling through either airport are encouraged to check their flight status before leaving for the airport, as weather-related disruptions and aircraft repositioning may continue to affect schedules throughout the evening.
