A NetJets Cessna 680 Citation Latitude (N523QS) crashed onto Loop 20 in Laredo, Texas, on June 16 after reporting mechanical issues while diverting from its planned flight from San José del Cabo, Mexico, to Austin, Texas.
The aircraft struck a moving vehicle before crashing and catching fire just a few miles short of Laredo International Airport. One of the six people onboard was killed, while five survived and were hospitalized. An occupant of the vehicle was also injured.
Amid the tragedy, the actions of bystanders and first responders were nothing short of heroic. Witnesses and police officers rushed to the burning wreckage and helped rescue trapped passengers, likely preventing further loss of life. Five police officers were injured during the rescue effort.
The NTSB is leading the investigation into the crash.
