Pressurization Alert Sends Alaska-Horizon Jet Back to Everett Mid-Climb

On Jan 21st 2026, a Horizon Air Embraer ERJ-175 operating on behalf of Alaska Airlines made a precautionary return to Everett, Washington, after the crew detected a pressurization problem shortly after departure.

The aircraft, registered N668QX, was operating flight AS-2154 from Everett to San Diego when the crew stopped the climb at around 10,000 feet while departing runway 16R. After assessing the situation, the pilots elected to discontinue the flight and return to the departure airport. The jet remained airborne for about 80 minutes as the crew worked through procedures before landing safely back on runway 16R.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the incident, stating that Horizon Air Flight 2154 returned safely to Snohomish County Airport in Everett at around 10:15 a.m. local time after the crew reported a pressurization issue. The aircraft had been en route to San Diego International Airport when the decision was made to turn back. The FAA has opened an investigation into the occurrence.

No injuries were reported, and the safe outcome once again underlined the effectiveness of modern aircraft monitoring systems and crew training in handling in-flight technical anomalies.
