Nose Wheel Breaks Free on Landing, United A321 Stops Safely in Orlando

A United Airlines Airbus A321-200N experienced a dramatic landing incident at Orlando International Airport on Jan 18th, 2026, when one of its nose wheels separated from the aircraft moments after touchdown.

The aircraft, registered N14502 and operating flight UA-2323 from Chicago O’Hare to Orlando, was carrying 200 passengers and six crew members. The flight had been uneventful until landing, when the jet touched down on runway 36L. As the nose gear came down, the right-hand nose wheel detached from the aircraft and rolled off to the side of the runway.

Despite the unexpected failure, the aircraft remained under control and continued its rollout without further incident. The pilots brought the A321 to a stop on the runway, ensuring the safety of everyone on board. No injuries were reported.

Airport authorities closed runway 36L following the incident while crews inspected the aircraft and recovered the separated wheel. Passengers were later able to disembark safely once the situation was secured.

United Airlines has not yet released details on what caused the nose wheel separation. The aircraft is expected to undergo a detailed inspection and maintenance review before returning to service, while the incident will be examined as part of standard safety and reliability procedures.
