On September 27, 2026, a Beechcraft 35-A33 Debonair, registration N1288Z, was forced to land in a field south of East Troy Municipal Airport in Wisconsin after an engine problem.
The aircraft sustained substantial damage, but remarkably, the pilot and three passengers survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
Then came an extraordinary twist.
A nearby Cessna Caravan, N40EA, was conducting a routine skydiving operation when its pilot spotted the crashed aircraft and immediately alerted ATC.
The Caravan crew decided to help. Three skydivers were dropped near the crash site, parachuting down to assist the people in distress while emergency responders were on their way.
The skydivers remained with the survivors until help arrived. The Caravan then continued its flight and landed safely.
A routine skydiving flight unexpectedly became a rescue mission — and three skydivers were on the ground helping crash survivors within minutes.
