Emergency Slide Deployment Delays British Airways Flight to Heathrow

A British Airways Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner bound for London Heathrow was delayed in Montreal after an emergency evacuation slide accidentally deployed while the aircraft was still on the ground.

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 5, involving British Airways flight BA94. A catering truck was positioned beside the aircraft when the slide unexpectedly deployed, bringing pre-departure operations to an immediate halt.

Ground and maintenance crews rushed to the aircraft to inspect the Boeing 787-10, safely deflate the slide and ensure the aircraft was fit to operate.

After the necessary checks, the aircraft eventually departed around 2 hours and 30 minutes late and arrived in London behind schedule.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The disruption also affected the aircraft’s planned later service to Newark, which required additional maintenance checks following the incident.

A seemingly small ground incident ended up creating a significant ripple effect across multiple flights.
