Air India Express has rolled out new uniforms for its cabin crew and frontline teams from September 1, bringing together modern airline design and traditional Indian art forms.
The uniforms draw inspiration from Kanjeevaram of Tamil Nadu, Pattu of Himachal Pradesh, Patola of Gujarat, Gamosa of Assam and Bagh from Madhya Pradesh — the same cultural spirit behind the airline’s “Tales of India” aircraft tail art.
The collection features contemporary silhouettes inspired by the traditional kurti, along with tailored jackets, scarves and pocket squares. The vibrant Xpress Blue and signature Xpress Orange colours tie the designs back to the airline’s identity.
The uniforms are being introduced across cabin crew, airport services, aviation security and flight operations teams.
Interestingly, much of the collection was designed in-house by Air India Express designer Pooja Krishnan, who focused on balancing cultural authenticity with the practical demands of frontline aviation.
Made with banana crepe fabric, the uniforms are designed for comfort, breathability, durability and ease of movement — while giving the airline’s teams a distinctive Indian identity.
