Twenty years ago, aviation fans witnessed a glimpse of the future.

On July 28, 2006, the Airbus A380 made one of its first major public airshow appearances, captivating thousands at the Farnborough International Airshow. The world’s largest passenger aircraft demonstrated its incredible size, remarkably quiet engines, and smooth handling, proving that a new era of commercial aviation had arrived.

With a maximum capacity of over 800 passengers in an all-economy configuration and advanced fly-by-wire technology, the A380 redefined what was possible in long-haul air travel. Airlines and aviation enthusiasts alike watched in awe as the giant gracefully performed flying displays that showcased its agility despite its massive size.

The A380 would go on to enter commercial service in 2007, becoming an icon of modern aviation. While production has since ended, the “Superjumbo” remains one of the most recognizable aircraft ever built and continues to serve passengers on some of the world’s busiest international routes.
