Blue Angels Reviewing Low-Altitude Flyby After Jet Startles Beachgoers in Florida

The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels are conducting a safety review after one of the team’s aircraft performed a low-altitude pass over Pensacola Beach, Florida, during a Wednesday morning arrival maneuver, sending beach chairs and umbrellas flying and startling spectators.

According to the Blue Angels, the aircraft flew lower than standard arrival profiles, creating a disturbance on the beach. The incident occurred during the popular “Breakfast with the Blues” event, where large crowds had gathered to watch the team’s arrival.

Eyewitnesses described the flyby as unusually low. One spectator, who has attended the event for a decade, said it was unlike anything they had ever experienced and initially feared the aircraft was dangerously close.

In an official statement, the Blue Angels emphasized that the safety of the local community, spectators, and pilots remains their highest priority. Team leadership has launched a thorough review of the maneuver to determine what occurred and to ensure all future operations comply with strict U.S. Navy and FAA safety standards
