American Airlines is facing criticism after a passenger reported receiving a religious pamphlet from a flight attendant during a recent flight.
According to the passenger, the crew member handed over a card containing religious messages encouraging people to “repent or perish” after receiving a customer service compliment. While the passenger described the flight attendant as friendly and professional throughout the flight, they felt distributing personal religious material while on duty was inappropriate.
The incident sparked widespread discussion online, with many travelers arguing that airline employees should avoid promoting personal religious, political, or ideological beliefs while representing their employer. Others suggested the matter should be handled through additional training rather than disciplinary action.
The passenger ultimately filed a complaint but reportedly asked that the incident be treated as a training opportunity rather than grounds for termination.
The case has reignited conversations about professionalism, passenger comfort, and the boundaries between personal beliefs and customer service in the airline industry.
