Passenger Damages Air India Aircraft Inner Pane Mid-Flight, Handed Over To Security In Delhi

A shocking incident unfolded onboard Air India flight AI1879 from Chandigarh to Delhi on June 7, when an unruly passenger allegedly damaged the inner pane of a cabin window despite repeated verbal and written warnings from the crew.

Following standard safety procedures, the cockpit crew alerted security agencies before landing. The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and the passenger was immediately handed over to airport authorities.

Air India confirmed that the safety of passengers, crew, and the aircraft was never compromised and reiterated its strict zero-tolerance policy against disruptive behaviour.

The case has been reported to the aviation regulator, while Air India’s internal committee will now decide whether the passenger should be officially declared unruly and face a flying ban under aviation rules.
