Buddha Air ATR 72 Overruns Runway at Bhadrapur, No Injuries Reported

A Buddha Air domestic flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur was involved in a runway overrun incident on the evening of January 2, 2026, after landing at its destination airport.

Flight U4901 was operated by an ATR 72-212A registered 9N-AMF and was carrying 51 people on board. The aircraft landed on runway 10 at Bhadrapur Airport at approximately 21:06 local time (15:21 UTC). After touchdown, the aircraft was unable to stop within the available runway length and overran the runway end.

The aircraft continued beyond the runway, crossing a creek before coming to a stop about 170 meters (approximately 560 feet) past the end of the runway. Emergency services responded, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.

Buddha Air confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the incident. However, the aircraft sustained substantial damage as a result of the overrun.

Operations at Bhadrapur Airport were disrupted following the occurrence while authorities assessed the situation. An investigation is expected to determine the circumstances that led to the runway overrun.
