An Eastern Air Express flight arriving from Cuba experienced a landing incident at Miami International Airport on December 29, 2025, after multiple tires failed during touchdown.
Flight BBQ553, operating from Varadero to Miami, was flown by a Boeing 737-400 registered N804TJ. The aircraft landed on Miami’s runway 30, where several of its tires blew during the landing roll. Despite the tire failures, the aircraft was able to taxi off the runway and proceed to the apron.
The Federal Aviation Administration later reported that the incident resulted in damage to the aircraft. In a statement, the FAA said: “Aircraft blew tires on landing damaging fuselage, left engine and landing gear, Miami, FL.” The extent of the damage was initially described as unknown.
No injuries were reported among passengers or crew.
Following the incident, the Boeing 737 remained on the ground in Miami for approximately 21.5 hours while inspections and maintenance actions were carried out. The aircraft was later ferried to Baltimore, Maryland.
The incident is subject to further review as authorities assess the circumstances surrounding the tire failures during landing.
