On Dec 8th 2025, a J-Air Embraer ERJ-190 operating on behalf of JAL Japan Airlines was involved in a serious in-flight incident after encountering unexpected turbulence during its descent into Aomori, Japan.
The aircraft, registration JA250J, was performing flight JL-2151 from Osaka Itami to Aomori when it encountered turbulence while descending toward its destination. Despite the disturbance, the crew maintained control and continued the approach, landing the aircraft safely at Aomori Airport.
Following the flight, Japan’s Transport Safety Board confirmed that one passenger sustained serious injuries during the turbulence. The occurrence was officially classified as an accident, prompting the opening of a formal investigation to determine the circumstances and contributing factors behind the event.
