Open Door Warning Forces EasyJet A320 Back to Ljubljana Shortly After Takeoff

An easyJet Airbus A320-200 was forced to return to its departure airport on Jan 20th, 2026, after a warning indication prevented the aircraft from climbing to its assigned cruising altitude.

The aircraft, registered G-EZWC and operating flight U2-2174 from Ljubljana, Slovenia to Manchester, United Kingdom, had just departed from runway 30 when the flight crew reported they were unable to continue climbing as cleared. The pilots advised air traffic control that an open door indication had appeared, requiring them to level off below 10,000 feet.

The aircraft was cleared to stop the climb at 6,000 feet and immediately positioned for a return to Ljubljana. The A320 landed safely back on runway 30 approximately 20 minutes after departure, with no injuries reported and no need for emergency assistance.

After remaining on the ground for about one hour while the issue was addressed and checks were completed, the aircraft was cleared to depart again. The flight later continued to Manchester, arriving with a delay of around 75 minutes.

easyJet has not released further details on the cause of the warning, but the incident highlights standard safety procedures that require crews to return when any door or pressurization-related indication appears during the climb.
