Delta Air Lines 737 Diverts to Atlanta After Odour Reported in Cabin

A Delta Air Lines flight traveling from Miami to Minneapolis was forced to divert on December 30, 2025, after an unusual odour was reported in the aircraft cabin during cruise.

Flight DL2150, operated by a Boeing 737-900 registered N801DZ, was carrying 111 passengers and six crew members. The flight had already departed Miami with a delay of approximately seven hours. While cruising at flight level 360, about 100 nautical miles east-northeast of Atlanta, Georgia, flight attendants reported an odour in the cabin.

In response, the flight crew donned their oxygen masks in accordance with standard operating procedures and elected to divert to Atlanta’s Hartsfield–Jackson International Airport as a precaution. The aircraft descended and landed safely on runway 26R around 25 minutes after leaving cruising altitude.

Delta Air Lines confirmed that the diversion was initiated after reports of an odour in the cabin. The airline emphasized that the crew’s actions were precautionary and in line with established safety protocols. No injuries were reported.

To continue the journey, Delta arranged a replacement Boeing 737-900, registered N827DN, to operate the flight to Minneapolis. The substitute aircraft arrived at its destination with a total delay of approximately nine and a half hours.

Delta stated that passenger and crew safety remained its highest priority and that the situation was handled according to standard procedures.
