Two More Victims Identified in Fatal Southwest Alaska Plane Crash
Two more victims of the deadly Security Aviation charter plane crash in Southwest Alaska have been identified.
The aircraft crashed near a military radar site on Cape Newenham on August 20, killing all eight people aboard.
The latest victims were Joseph “Joe” Palmer and Tom Fisher, both employees of Calista Brice. Palmer was a project manager with Brice Builders, while Fisher served as a mechanical program manager with Brice Services.
Their families remembered both men as devoted family members who loved the outdoors, fishing, boating and helping their communities.
Palmer’s wife, Heidi, described him as a man who faced challenges head-on and cherished time with his family in Alaska’s outdoors. Fisher’s wife, Kris, remembered him as a generous businessman, hockey coach and someone who made friends wherever he went.
Earlier, three other victims were identified as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees Sabrina Hansen and Hayden Scalis, along with U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Leah Borsich. Trevor McWilliams, an employee of Yukon Fire Protection Services, was also identified.
The remaining two victims were the Security Aviation pilots, whose names had not yet been released as of Friday.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash and is expected to release a preliminary report within a month.
All eight lives were lost in the tragedy, leaving families, colleagues and communities across Alaska mourning.
