Fatal Cirrus SR22T Crash Near Warsaw Claims Two Lives

A tragic general aviation accident occurred on Thursday, June 25, 2026, when a privately operated Cirrus SR22T (registration SP-GOS) crashed during its final approach to Warszawa-Babice Airport (EPBC) in Poland.

The aircraft had departed Wroclaw-Copernicus Airport (WRO) at approximately 10:03 local time on a private flight bound for Warsaw. According to preliminary ADS-B flight tracking data, the aircraft approached the airport from the south, flying parallel to Runway 10/28 at a distance of around 300 meters before entering a descending left-hand turn.

The final recorded flight data ended at approximately 11:07 local time. Moments later, the aircraft crashed about 800 meters east of the threshold of Runway 28. The impact triggered a post-crash fire that completely destroyed the aircraft.

Sadly, both occupants on board lost their lives in the accident. In addition, one person on the ground sustained injuries during the crash.

Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft’s traffic pattern differed from the published visual approach procedures for Warszawa-Babice Airport, which require aircraft to fly a traffic circuit north of the runway. Whether this deviation contributed to the accident will be determined by investigators.

The aircraft involved was a 2010-built Cirrus SR22T equipped with a Continental TSIO-550K engine and was being operated privately.

Poland’s State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation (SCAAI) has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. At this stage, the available information is based primarily on news reports, ADS-B flight tracking data, and unofficial sources. The findings remain preliminary, and investigators will examine factors including the aircraft’s flight path, weather conditions, pilot actions, and any possible mechanical issues.
