Single Engine Glasair I Makes Successful Emergency Landing 61 In Duluth

Drivers on Highway 61 in witnessed an unusual scene Saturday afternoon when a small aircraft made an emergency landing right on the roadway.

According to local authorities, a privately operated Glasair I (N586ES) was forced to land around 3:03 PM after experiencing an apparent engine malfunction. The aircraft had departed from before the incident occurred.

Remarkably, the pilot—who was the sole occupant—escaped without any injuries, and the aircraft itself sustained no visible damage. Responding officers quickly secured the area and physically moved the plane off Highway 61 to a nearby grassy section along Eastridge Road, restoring normal traffic flow.
